Any person making a payment to Teaching Edge for Personal Teacher services is deemed a ‘client’. The recipient of a Personal Teaching Session (‘session’) is deemed a ‘student’.
A professional teacher brokered by Teaching Edge to deliver Personal Teaching services for a client is deemed a ‘Personal Teacher’. All Personal Teachers are fully registered by their relevant state or territory authority.
Unless otherwise negotiated, a Personal Teaching session consists of 55 minutes of face-to-face online engagement with a Teaching Edge Personal Teacher, followed shortly after by a short feedback pro forma forwarded to the client.
Sessions are strictly between a Personal Teacher and students. No other person, except for Teaching Edge personnel (for quality control purposes) may actively participate in the session. Parents and others may be present in the same room, but must not be a source of any distraction.
Payment for sessions must be made in full prior to a session.
Teaching Edge matches a student’s learning needs with a suitable Personal Teacher.
Personal Teachers and clients negotiate a mutually convenient time for sessions.
Teaching Edge clients and students must only arrange further tutoring sessions with the Teaching Edge personal teacher by going through Teaching Edge. This means that payments are made to Teaching Edge and not directly to the Teaching Edge personal teacher.
For disputes, Teaching Edge will apply a test of ‘reasonableness’ in individual cases. Clients agree to approach any disputes from a similar perspective of ‘what is reasonable’. Teaching Edge reserves the right to terminate a client’s access to Teaching Edge services at any time and in its sole discretion. This includes if a client, or agent, or child, engages in any threatening or abusive language or behaviour towards anyone associated with Teaching Edge.
Teaching Edge reserves the right, in its sole discretion, at any time to modify, alter, or otherwise change these Terms and to impose new or additional terms or conditions on use of its services.
Failure to attend a scheduled Personal Teaching session
Clients are required to provide the student with a suitable learning space for sessions. This includes a suitable computer and internet connection and physical space free of distraction.
Teaching Edge will support clients with advice on minimum computing requirements/specifications.
Clients agree to support students to engage in sessions and to complete follow-up activities.
